Christmas Party Info

This info comes from Willard. He says if something is wrong it is the first time in his life he was wrong so cut him some slack. We all of course know that is not true (other than Grandma). Two words for you Dad, Fox Wood. Enough said.

Lancaster Family Christmas Party
  • Saturday, December 27
  • 1:00 PM (though we all know that means more like 1:30 if we are lucky)
  • Likely at the Smoot/Osmond church (Grandma and Grandpa's church). This is unless there is a funeral that kicks us out (happens), in which case it is usually moved up to the Bedford church.
  • Potluck lunch
  • Bring a $10 gift to exchange if you would like to. We started this last year. Those who brought a gift put it in the middle of the circle and we drew numbers and did the game where you choose gifts and steal them. It is intense because everyone is willing (and happy) to steal gifts.

Family Tree

I decided it would be a good idea to put up a "family tree" on this blog so we can all keep track of who has how many kids, what their names are, etc. They are on the right-hand side of the page. Please look through it and let me know of any corrections you know need to be made. I know I spelled some names wrong, and I also am having a brain blank-out and having trouble remembering some names that I know I know. You can either correct/add by commenting on this post or by emailing me. Thanks!

This one is for Val...

...she made a comment on how much Kaitlyn looks like her, so I found this pic of Val and me and thought I'd share - she really does look so much like her! Sorry for the funky crop job - I did that back in high school when I first started scrapbooking and had to crop every picture in some different way ;-P I wish I'd just left it alone!

2008 Reunion

We had our annual reunion at the end of July. For those who aren't aware, the new tradition is to have the reunion the last Saturday in July rather than the first Saturday in August. Now you can plan for next year.
Here are some pictures I took at the reunion. If you see one you like:
1. right click on the picture
2. choose "Save Picture As". A new window will open.
3. make sure the computer is going to save the picture where you want it to. It should automatically save the picture where you last saved a picture to (for those who don't rearrange their files, this will be in the "My Pictures" folder if you use a Windows).
4. type in a name for the picture if you want to rename it.
5. click "save"

Remember This?

I came across this old picture today - it was fun to look back at how we have all changed SO much! Does anyone know when this picture was taken? I'm thinking around Christmas 1989 - anyone know for sure? Enjoy the flashback!

My first-ever blog post! (Lori)

Hey everyone, I'm trying this out, I've never written in a blog before. I'll have to speak for both Ray and myself, since Ray types at approximately the speed of a sleepy sloth, with just two fingers, poor guy! He also doesn't have much, if any, free time.

We very much enjoyed the reunion! It was great to see everybody, and the food was fantastic, as usual. Big thanks to all the cooks! You all are such comedians too, I don't remember the last time I laughed so much! Oh, and thank you to the organizers-- who is in charge for next year? Seems like Bev still gets to do a large share of the work no matter who is in charge, thank you Bev for your un-ending toil! :)

Ok, now for just a little update on us; Jessica sends her love to everyone, she *really* wanted to go to the reunion but work kept her from doing so. She is now the manager of a check-loan store and it keeps her pretty busy. She's got a nice apartment in Midvale, and it's a two-bedroom so Ray can crash there when he works too late to make driving home and then back feasible. We help out a bit on the rent because of that, and it works out really well. Jess is also seeing someone that she likes a lot, and Ray and I both approve of him, so all is good there. :)
Ray and I also have a new dog. I had happened upon a website called "Monday's Dogs" which is a rescue site when I was researching Catahoulas, and I just couldn't help but inquire on a little blue-eyed pup who was listed as "Critical, has less than 48 hours to live". Animal shelters are overflowing even more than usual these days because of the economy. Anyway, I got a response, no one else had inquired on the puppy and so I decided to adopt her. She was in Louisiana, in the Katrina hurricane-hit area and so had to be flown here. Her name is Lexi, and she is wearing a t-shirt in her picture because her spay sutures had to be protected from her licking them, so I put that on her and tied it up around her haunches. Pretty comical, but it worked! :) I'd like to invite everyone to take a look at my website, "Magic Mist Miniatures", Val has included the link on this page. If you aren't interested in seeing the horses, there are still a few pictures of our house and some of the surrounding area, for those who haven't yet seen it for themselves. Thanks for starting this blog, Val, I think it's going to be great! Lori

Welcome Family!

I got thinking that we should have a "master blog" for our family. It can be a fun way to keep in touch. Anyone who wants to can be an author. If you want to be an author for this blog, email me and let me know. It is valplowman@yahoo.com. I need the email address of everyone who wants to be an author.
